We take the time to discuss your pet’s specific needs, as well as your desires, to ensure your pet receives the personalized care that he or she requires. Our groomers are skilled in hand scissoring which requires skill and patience. These clips are more expensive because of the time and expertise required to make your dog or cat look beautiful. Our philosophy is that every dog or cat will benefit from the added attention to detail that hand scissoring offers. Dr. Dave’s uses only all natural shampoos and conditioners. We offer optimal skin and coat care and advanced grooming skills for dog and cat owners in and around the San Jose area. We will groom your pet and rid him or her of problems such as shedding, matting, tangling, odors or long nails. All dogs require bathing prior to grooming and scissoring so that we can dry the hair straight to obtain the best finish possible. Tina Pirtle is our lead groomer and manages all aspects of our grooming here at Dr. Dave’s Doggy Daycare, Boarding and Grooming. She discovered her passion for dog grooming when she was just a teenager, and started practicing on her Grandmother’s poodles. Tina has dedicated over 20 years to the art of dog grooming, and just over 10 years ago, she became a Certified Master Dog Groomer recognized by the National Dog Groomer Association. In addition to taking private lessons with a world renowned dog groomer, Tina has attended many classes, seminars, and grooming competitions in order to stay informed about new trends, techniques and breed standards. Tina recently competed in the Super Zoo Expo dog grooming competition held annually in Las Vegas; she got 2nd place in the Large Poodle Entry, and 3rd place in the Mixed Salon Styling Entry. She has experience with dogs of all breeds, ages and temperaments, and strives to make the grooming process as comfortable and safe as possible. Tina prides herself on the strong, long lasting relationships that she develops with her clients and their furry friends; many of which she has seen grow up from a young age. Ken Gelfand (Groomer) – Ken has been grooming dogs and cats in the Bay Area since 2004. After graduating from Saratoga High in 2004 Ken began bathing and grooming in Cupertino. After spending a few years grooming pets in Cupertino and Los Gatos, Ken began working for Winelight Kennels in Los Gatos, a private breeder and dog show specialist of American cocker spaniels. Under the mentorship of Jan Bruce, a renowned breeder and cocker spaniel dog show specialist, Ken mastered the technical show haircut of the cocker spaniel as well as the Shi-Tzu. After working with show dogs for four years Ken returned to the pet grooming industry. Jolene has been grooming for 5 years and her objective is to become a Certified Master Groomer. Her focus is to meet the grooming needs and expectations of her clients and to make sure that doggies and kitties are happy and comfortable during the bathing and grooming process.
